Entry and visas

Many nationalities, including UK, EU, US, Indian and Latin American passport holders, can get a free visa waiver or visa on arrival for stays up to 30 days; other nationalities need to apply in advance. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival, and travellers staying more than 30 days must buy local health insurance. Check the latest rules on the Qatar Ministry of Interior website before booking.

From the airport

Most travellers arrive at Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, about 100 km (roughly 1 hour 15 minutes) by car from Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas (Salwa Road, exit 86). Taxis, ride-hailing apps and pre-booked transfers are the usual ways to reach the resort.

Getting around

A rental car or taxi is the practical way to move around the Salwa area; Doha's metro and bus network do not reach the resort.

Local tips

  • Dress modestly in public areas outside the resort; swimwear is fine on the beach and at pools.
  • Alcohol is served in licensed hotel venues, but public drunkenness is not tolerated.
  • Carry a card or some Qatari riyals; taxis and small shops may not accept foreign cash.
  • Summers are extremely hot (40°C+), so plan outdoor activities for early morning or evening from May to September.
