About us

Bookskies helps you prepare the part of a trip that happens before the flight: where to go, what the entry rules are, what it will cost, and how to plan the days once you land.

In short

  • Travel guides in four languages, drafted with AI and linked to sources; review status varies.
  • A free trip planner with day-by-day plans and estimated budgets for the destinations in our live directory.
  • Destination pages with the weather through the year, daily costs, entry rules and the best things to do.
  • Independent: funded by advertising and optional memberships, never by the places we write about.

Who we are

Bookskies is an independent travel publication run by Sereyan for Private Software Services Design and Programming (commercial permit no. 343175), based in the State of Qatar. The site is published in four languages, each under its own name: Bookskies in English, سماء مفتوحة in Arabic, आसमान तक in Hindi and Cielo Abierto in Spanish.

We started Bookskies because good travel information is scattered: visa rules sit on one government site, health advice on another, prices on a dozen booking pages, and much of it is only in English. We use AI to help assemble and translate information, link to the original sources and record editorial approvals separately. Historical publications are not automatically human-verified.

What we publish

Travel guides

Our guides cover the questions travellers ask before they book: entry rules and visas, travel health, money and payments, flights, packing and practical destination guides. Each guide shows its sources and, when documented, its human review date and, where rules are changing, what is confirmed and what isn't. Read them all on the guides page.

The trip planner

The trip planner builds a day-by-day plan for a city or a whole country from our destination data: what to see each day, grouped by area, with closing days respected and indoor options when it's hot or rainy. You choose a conservative, high or luxury budget, and the plan estimates stays, food, transport and tickets in your currency. Plans can be downloaded as a PDF and shared by link for seven days.

The planner arranges stored activities using programmed rules. AI may have contributed to the underlying destination data. Confirm prices, opening days and transport before relying on a plan.

Destination pages

Every destination has its own page with quick facts (capital, population, languages, currency, time zone, plugs and emergency numbers), a month-by-month temperature chart, the typical daily cost at three budget levels, the best things to do and the essentials for arriving and getting around.

How we work

  • Official sources first. Legislation, governments, embassies, the European Union and public health agencies such as the WHO, the CDC and the NHS. Every guide links to them.
  • Four languages, one set of facts. Each version is written for its readers, not translated word for word, and all four rely on the same sources.
  • Dates you can see. Human review dates appear only when documented; destination data shows when exchange rates, travel advice and public holidays were last refreshed.
  • No guessing. When a date or rule isn't officially confirmed, we say so and link to the official page.
  • Open corrections. Mistakes are fixed and listed on our corrections page.

Our full rules are in the editorial standards.

What we don't do

We don't sell tickets, hotels or tours, and we don't take bookings. We don't give personal medical, legal or immigration advice: our guides explain the official rules, and your doctor, the embassy or the authority concerned has the final word on your case. Planner prices are estimates to help you budget, not quotes.

How the site is funded

Bookskies is free to read. It is funded by advertising, clearly labelled and kept apart from the text, and by optional memberships that unlock members-only guides and remove ads (USD 5 a month or USD 48 a year, with a 7-day free trial). Advertisers, tourism boards and hotels have no say in what we publish. See membership.

Your data

We collect as little as we can. Visitor statistics come from our own counter, which uses no cookies and stores no IP addresses. Trip plans are deleted after seven days. Advertising and Google Analytics cookies are used only if you accept them. The details are in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
