Entry and visas

Italy is in the Schengen area: most visitors can stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Many nationalities, including Indian and Saudi citizens, need a Schengen visa; apply at the Italian consulate at least 15 days before travel. Visa-exempt visitors are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which uses fingerprints and a photo; there is no cost and no action needed before arrival.
