Entry and visas

Many nationalities, including UK and most EU, US, Indian and Latin American visitors, can enter the Philippines visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, but rules vary by passport and some nationalities need an e-visa or a visa from a Philippine embassy. All travellers must register on the e-travel system within 72 hours before arrival and show the QR code, and passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival. Check your own nationality's rules on the official Philippine e-visa site or with the Bureau of Immigration before booking.

From the airport

Most visitors fly into Caticlan (Godofredo P. Ramos Airport), a few minutes from Caticlan Jetty Port, then take a short outrigger boat to Cagban Jetty Port on the island, about 15-20 minutes including fees. Kalibo International Airport is 70 km away and takes 1.5-2 hours by van or bus plus the ferry.

Getting around

The island is small and walkable along the Beachfront Path; e-trikes run along the Main Road for short hops, typically ₱20-150 per trip depending on distance.

Local tips

  • Book a hotel before you travel: boats to the island only carry visitors with a confirmed booking.
  • The beach has strict rules: no eating, drinking, smoking, bonfires or beach chairs on the sand, so plan shade and breaks accordingly.
  • Bring cash in Philippine pesos; many small businesses and tricycles do not take cards, and ATMs on the island can run out.
  • November to April is the dry, calm season; June to October brings the southwest monsoon and a higher chance of typhoons.
