Before you go

Entry and visas

Most visitors must submit the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within 3 days before arriving. Visa rules depend on your passport; check with the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Official website

From the airport

There is no airport: buses from Kuala Lumpur take about 4 hours up a winding road; a private car is a little faster.

Getting around

Local taxis and Grab are limited; most visitors take half-day Land Rover tours or rent a car with a driver.

Local tips

  • Bring a jacket and rain layer; it's much cooler than the lowlands.
  • The mountain road has many bends; take motion-sickness tablets if you need them.
  • Weekends and Malaysian school holidays are busy; weekdays are calmer.
  • Plan the tea estate for any day except Monday.
